Virtual Advanced Beginning Contemporary for Adults
Hosted by Durham Arts Council
Tuesdays, March 30 - May 4, 5:30 - 6:30 PM
This fun and energetic online class provides adult students (16+) with a foundation in contemporary technique and builds strength & flexibility. Classes are up-beat and can be modified to work in any space. We begin with a warm-up, followed by movement adapted for the spaces we are in and choreography sequences will build from class to class. Students should be barefoot or wear sneakers comfortable clothing that allows them to move freely. This class is perfect for those who are returning to dance after a long break or who recently started dancing.

Virtual Community Performance Project

Thursdays, April 1 - 29, 6:30 - 8:00 PM
Informal Digital Sharing May 6th at 7:00 PM
In this performance creation lab, participants will work with the instructor to develop a collaborative digital dance performance piece based on a theme chosen by participants. No prior dance training is required and students of all ages and abilities are encouraged to participate. This class will culminate in an informal digital performance sharing. This project will be assisted by Bryce Dance Company Rehearsal Coach, Dominique Lockett. Aimed at participants of all ages (under 16 with parent)

Site Specific Dance Making
April 17 & 21, 2:00 - 4:00 PM

IN PERSON - Outdoors at Duke Homestead. Durham, NC.
Are you interested in learning how to make dances in site specific locations? This two-session intensive class will support students (16+) in learning the tools they need to create site specific work and will culminate in a socially distanced sharing for friends and family. Students should wear sneakers and masks and bring a towel and water bottle. This class will take place at Duke Homestead. There will be an informal sharing the second class meeting from 4 - 4:30 PM. Masks and social distancing required.
